The Franklin County Public Library’s Main Branch hosts Cameron MacKenzie, Adjunct Instructor of English at Ferrum College, in a talk about historical fiction, one of the most popular genres in literature. MacKenzie’s novel, The Beginning of His Excellent and Eventful Career, is based on the life of Pancho Villa. Villa was one of the most prominent figures of the Mexican Revolution. In the context of his novel, MacKenzie will speak on this adventurous, controversial figure, the craft of historical fiction and how to gather facts, develop characters and imagine time and place.
