Enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature as we stroll through the woodland habitat of Smith Mountain Lake. Awaken your senses to the creatures that share this beautiful world with us. Discover for yourself the many types of animals that dwell in the deep forests that surround the "Gem of the Blue Ridge" (SML). Join a park interpreter as we hike along Lakeview Trail and meet new friends in the woods. Please wear appropriate footwear for hiking (no flip-flops), dress for the weather, and bring a water bottle. You may also want to bring insect repellant, a hiking stick, binoculars, and a camera. Pets are allowed if they are well-behaved and they must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet at all times.
