DESCRIPTION:The 5K Trail Race/Walk will start at 10:30 a.m. and the Oktoberfest festival will follow from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.\n\nThe 5K Trail Race/Walk will begin at Westlake Towne Center\, wind through the Jack-O-Lantern Branch Heritage Trail at the Booker T. Washington National Monument\, and end at the Oktoberfest site. Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female runners\, and top finishers in each age bracket. All proceeds benefit the Smith Mountain Lake YMCA. Online registration is available.\n\nThe Oktoberfest festival will include live entertainment by the Sauerkraut Band and local Saengerbund Band\, who will perform authentic German-style music in traditional Bavarian-style clothing. The event also features a 30 craft and merchandise vendors\, a children's craft and play area with petting zoo\, Oktoberfest-style Strongman contest\, German food and special Oktoberfest beer brewed by Sunken City Brewery. Valid ID is required for patrons age 21 and older. Food and drink vendors will be on site. Lawn chairs are welcome.
