Enjoy a day of fresh air, and some of the best views of the lake, while you help the ecology of Smith Mountain Lake. Volunteer to work with local youth to inspire environmental stewardship, and encourage use of our public lands for education and recreation. This tournament, sponsored by The Friends of Smith Mountain Lake State Park, is open to boys and girls up to and including age 14. Any volunteers are welcome to assist the children in learning fishing techniques and the importance of keeping our lake clean.
Participants will bring their own pole and bucket and we supply the free bait. There will also be a few "loaner" fishing poles available, on a "first-come" basis, for those who do not have their own equipment. This is a "catch and release" event. Children will compete in age groups for first, second and third place certificates, plus a "lunker" trophy for the largest fish of the tournament.
Registration - 8:30 to 9 a.m. Fishing - 9 to 11 a.m. Lunch and prizes - 11 a.m. to noon. Free lunch provided for registered anglers and attendees as long as food lasts.
Free parking/admission for this day.
