Summary:
The Quality Inspector is a key position within the Operations Department at Magnets USA.  The production team as well as others depend on this position to ensure and verify quality product is both coming in and going out of Magnets USA.  To accomplish this task, the Quality Inspector must have excellent attention to detail and be experienced in measurement, data collection and record keeping.  This position will additionally play a key role in quality and lean manufacturing projects at Magnets USA.
 
Skill Sets Required:

  • Computer skills, especially in the use Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Ability to manage files and records effectively using printed forms and electronic means
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to pay attention to details
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Ability to interpret instructions whether written, spoken, or in a diagram
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to effectively multitask
  • Experience as QC Inspector or Technician using electro-mechanical instruments and components
  • Experience in quality control processes and procedures as well as basic statistical techniques is
  • Technical writing skills and experience creating quality control documents
  • Lean manufacturing training and experience
 
Responsibilities for a Quality Inspector:
  • Receiving Inspection:
    • Determine if materials are accepted or rejected according to Receiving Inspection guidelines
    • Understand and follow quality standards and applicable documentation
    • Determine appropriate disposition of nonconforming material according to quality standards and applicable procedures
    • Maintain appropriate quality records according to applicable procedures and guidelines
 
  • First Article, In-Process and Final Inspection:
    • Test and evaluate product against established criteria
    • Prepare and segregate nonconforming product for quarantine and disposition
    • Understand and follow quality standards and applicable documentation
    • Maintain appropriate quality records according to applicable procedures and guidelines

  • Documentation:
    • Fill out RMA, First Article Testing, In-Process Inspection and Corrective Action forms related to material inspection and various other quality documents as they are created
 
  • Quality Department Structure:
    • The Quality Inspector’s input into the documents as well as department structure is highly valued and will be essential to a well performing department.
    • The inspector’s past work experiences will be frequently called upon for input
    • If at any time documents, tools, measuring devices, fixtures, etc., are not available, the inspector must ask for or may even be asked to help create them
 
Other Duties:
  • May be asked to assist with production when needed during peak and seasonal production times.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted
