Communications Officer - E911 Dispatch

Franklin County Sheriff’s E911Communications/Dispatch Center seeks candidates for Full Time & PART TIME COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER Positions. Responsibilities of this highly stressful position include: performance of responsible & technical work on flexible shifts; receiving E911 emergency & non-emergency calls; comprehending information quickly; & dispatching appropriate emergency first responders to the scene; & documenting all the information.  Education/Exp: HS diploma or equiv.; general knowledge of dispatching procedures & County geography/major landmarks preferred. EMS experience a plus. Requires ability to: be proficient in data entry/typing; general computer knowledge, tactfully work w/the public; communicate clearly; work under pressure; multi-task, handle life & death situations. Hourly Rate Depending on Experience. Applicants must successfully complete entry-level Telecommunicator training, Virginia Criminal Information Network and Emergency Medical Dispatcher certifications.
