Beach Ranger (Parks Lifeguard)
Hourly Rate: $14.00 per hour
Position Numbers: SM009, SM010, SM011, SM037, SM038, SM039, SM040, SM041, SM046, and SM051
Safeguards and regulates the conduct of patrons to prevent unsafe practices and accidents; is alert to note possible swimmers in distress. Strictly enforces policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct of patrons and promptly warns users of existing safety hazards. Performs rescues and appropriate follow-up procedures including the use of any available equipment in the performance of First Aid/CPR. Performs other duties such as boat rentals, swim ticket and merchandise sales, cleaning area surrounding boat rental house to include, trash/litter pickup, beach cleaning, sweeping sidewalks, & cleaning of rental boats and equipment. Responsible to the Assistant Park Manager or his/her designee.
Minimum Qualifications: Successful candidate must obtain Lifeguard Certification, First Aid and CPR/AED training. Must be 16 years old and have reliable transportation. Must be able to work well with other staff and with park guests. Must be willing to work shift work, weekends and holidays from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Waterfront safety certification will be provided for successful candidates. Applicants who have received Certifications are strongly encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous water safety experience preferred but not required.
