Shop Smith Mountain Lake this holiday season
The Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce is promoting the importance of shopping local this holiday season with a social media campaign leading up to Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30.
Now in its 10th year, Small Business Saturday is a national movement organized by American Express that helps bring communities together in support of small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
The Chamber’s campaign includes a Facebook event where businesses may post information about sales, specials and events related to Small Business Saturday. Find a link to the Small Business Saturday at SML Facebook event at facebook.com/SmithMountainLakeRegionalChamberOfCommerce.

Survey open to study proposed Bedford train station
This Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation has launched an online survey to study the possibility of adding a passenger train station in Bedford.
The purpose is to learn where people in Bedford, Franklin and Botetourt counties travel in the northeast and whether they might use Amtrak to reach their destination. Feedback will help decide whether a proposed train station in Bedford might be viable.
The survey is open to the public through January 6. To participate, visit surveymonkey.com/r/J2G8T5P.
