Ever look up at the night sky and wonder about the vast array of stars, planets, and other celestial bodies? Men have been trying to make sense of the night sky, to fit stars into patterns and to understand their nature, since the earliest civilizations. Members of the Roanoke Valley Astronomical Society will be on hand to explain about galaxies, nebulae and star clusters, and some of our common constellations. Learn the best times of the year to view the various constellations and some of our neighboring planets.
Stick around to try you hand at stargazing with telescopes and binoculars, during "A Look at the Night Sky" starting immediately after this program. Please pre-register for the stargazing program by calling 540-297-6066. Remember to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
