The Smith Mountain Lake Triathlon is the first open water swim triathlon in the western part of the state of Virginia. This race has been around for a long time, and is one of the most popular in the VTSMTS. Presented by Virginia Amateur Sports, here's your chance to test your endurance while swimming (750 meters), cycling (20 kilometers), and running (5 kilometers) through one of Virginia's most beautiful state parks. The swim starts and finishes at our well groomed swimming beach. The bike course is rolling throughout. The run course is all inside the park and is a nice flat to rolling out and back affair.
This event benefits Virginia Amateur Sport and the ALS Foundation. Virginia Amateur Sports, a Roanoke based non-profit group, works to promote access to sporting events of all kinds to Virginia residents.
