The popular, annual family Christmas concert featuring David Stewart Wiley, music director and conductor of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, returns to SML on Friday, December 1. Wiley's energetic and inspiring leadership of the RSO since 1996 has been a remarkable success story.
Two talented musical families – The Wileys and the Mathesons – team up for a truly memorable Christmas program this December. The concert kicks off the holiday season on Friday, December 1, 2017, 7:00 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church in Moneta.
Joining Maestro Wiley, who will host the concert and play piano, are his wife Leah Marer Wiley, singing soprano, musical friends Bryan and Kevin Matheson, playing viola and violin, and Wiley's children, Mara and Misha Wiley, on violin & cello.
Favorites include classic Christmas selections for soprano, piano, and string quartet, including Fantasia on Greensleeves, Schubert’s Ave Maria, Handel’s Messiah selections, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, the Little Drummer Boy, and much more. Plus, Christmas stories and a holiday sing-along make this a great program for all ages, sure to put you in the Yuletide spirit.
