Lake Christian Ministries (LCM), located on South Old Moneta Road in Moneta, VA, is an outreach ministry supported by local churches, organizations, businesses and individuals. LCM has been providing food, clothing, household items and crisis financial aid since 1992 to our neighbors in need in the Smith Mountain Lake areas of Bedford, Franklin and Pittsylvania counties. Two Mobile Food Pantries serve those in outlying areas who are unable to travel to the Center. Pantries are located at Penhook United Methodist Church and the Moneta Senior Center.
Programs and services available through LCM to our neighbors are provided entirely by 160+ team-spirited volunteers who worked nearly 24,000 hours in 2016. LCM has no paid staff. In mid-2012, a cadre of those volunteers completed remodeling and the addition of 1,500 square feet to LCM's Moneta facility, thus improving operating efficiency, serving as the springboard to introduce New Tomorrows in 2013 to enhance the self-sufficiency and stability of our neighbors, and enabling pursuit of the worthy goal to become a disaster relief site. Working with the Red Cross and Public Safety Officers of Bedford and Franklin Counties, LCM was designated a disaster relief site for the entire Smith Mountain Lake community in 2014. To provide necessary aid to the community in the event of a prolonged power failure, LCM installed a generator large enough to run the entire facility.
LCM is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, so all contributions to LCM are tax deductible.
