SML Publishers, LLC is a Virginia-based small press (operating out of the Smith Mountain Lake area) dedicated to publishing deeply personal, impactful memoirs that honor resilience, community support, and healing. Their first title — Survival Has Consequences: Shot and Left to Die: A Survivor’s Story — was written and self-published by founder Victoria Lyn Gardner, a community figure and the lone survivor of a widely publicized shooting incident near Smith Mountain Lake.
