Sherry Q. Scott was born and raised in Franklin County, Virginia. She graduated from Radford University with a Bachelor of Social Work. Years later and while raising her two boys, Sherry earned her Master's in Social Work and a Master's in Educational Leadership, earning a 4.0 GPA in each. Following a career as a sexual assault advocate for Blue Ridge Behavioral Health, an Intake Officer/Crime Control Coordinator for Franklin County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, a contracted custody investigator for the Franklin County Department of Social Services, a Teacher and School Social Worker for Franklin County Public Schools, and a Crisis Mental Health Clinician for Piedmont Community Services.
Sherry decided to pursue her dream of becoming an attorney in her early 40's. She graduated from Liberty University School of Law, after serving one year as a student lawyer for Lynchburg Legal Aid. Sherry has maintained a passion for helping others throughout her life. She has a heart for those whom face oppression, including oppression due to disability and socioeconomic status. In addition to her full time professions, all of which involved service to others, she was one of the founders of a local non-profit who provides financial assistance and positive support systems to those living in poverty of whose basic needs are not being met. Sherry has served on the Franklin County Child Abuse Review Team through the Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center
