If your home or business is on septic, remember to get your system checked and pumped every 3-5 years. Fall is a great time for a septic pump out before the winter sets in.

Here's how septic systems work:

Wastewater from your home flows into a septic tank. Solids settle in the tank and need to be pumped out periodically.

The wastewater that leaves the tank flows into a drainfield (or into a lift station where it is pumped to the drainfield), where it is released into the soil. Soil organisms naturally clean the wastewater as it moves through the ground.

Regular septic system maintenance keeps the system working as designed and helps protect public health and local water quality. We can all do our part to protect the environment.
