Pay Grade: $22.18-$24.27

Role

The Relationship Specialist III (RS III) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Teller line and supervising the team of Tellers in their respective branch. They will serve as the manager in the Branch Manager’s absence. They lead, guide and direct the branch team in providing quality service to members in all areas and maintain a thorough working knowledge of all products and services. 
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Sales and Service
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of products and services. Refer products and services to members and potential members that will assist them in meeting their financial needs/goals.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of all retail and digital systems to better support the needs of their team and to provide exceptional experience for the members.
  • Build relationships with consumers and businesses within the branch footprint. Develop and maintain a highly engaged and productive team. Communicate effectively with all team members to ensure positive and clear understanding of goals and direction.

Leadership and Operational Management
  • Communicate and manage branch-related operational policies and procedures under the direction of the Branch Manager.
  • Maximize service levels through coaching, training, and motivating the team.
  • Direct team members to exercise sound judgment when assisting members with account and loan applications, conducting deposit and loan transactions etc.
  • Maintain branch security procedures and ensure team members are adhering to security procedures.
  • Create schedule for team members to ensure adequate coverage is available. 
  • Manage general maintenance, apply changes, approve/disapprove leave requests, and ensure proper submission of electronic timecards in accordance with Human Resource standards.
  • Assist with completion of annual budget.
  • Monitor Branch activity, including number of transactions, volume, Teller errors, loan volume, new accounts, etc.
  • Offer creative suggestions to improve services and/or products to members and to improve work efficiency.
  • Ensure each Teller and Relationship Specialist serves the membership by providing service and information to members and performing account transactions in a pleasant, efficient manner. Respond to members’ requests, problems and complaints, and/or direct them to the proper person for specific information and assistance.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all information and transactions regarding the credit union, its members and employees are held to the highest level of business ethics.
  • Recruit and select quality applicants for vacancies.
  • Manage interviewing/ hiring, promotions, transfers, termination, disciplinary actions and other changes in the status of assigned -team members. 
  • Ensure Teller drawer cash limits are adhered to.
  • Conduct unannounced cash counts monthly on all team members.
  • Ensure proper management and security of cash vault. Verify currency from the Federal Reserve.
  • Maintain Teller over/short records to ensure balancing is within guidelines.
Operational Duties
  • Load and balance ATM, coin machines, and cash recycler, when applicable.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities of a Relationship Specialist and Teller.
Other
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • Attend and participate in department and corporate meetings.
  • Attend and participate in in-house and or off-site training, seminars, workshops, and or conferences.
  • Available to work Saturday hours as needed.
  • Maybe asked to travel to various branch locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of financial experience required. 
  • Supervisory experience required or the completion of ValleyStar Credit Union’s Career Path module.

Education/ Certifications / Licenses

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. 
  • Able to operate a personal computer, telephone, scanner, and copy machine.
  • Demonstrate basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, among other things, objects, tools, PC keyboard or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and sit.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and or crouch.
 
The employee will need to lift box[es] of receipt paper and other supplies that may weigh in excess of 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

Work is performed largely in a pleasant office environment with minimal chance for personal injury and moderate noise level.  There may be occasions when the work environment is stressful.  Work hours will normally be from Monday through Friday and may change depending upon our needs.
