The SML Songwriters Festival returns June 11–14, 2026, bringing four days of live music to the heart of Smith Mountain Lake. From scenic lakeside stages to beloved local venues, the festival offers a unique opportunity to experience exceptional songwriting in an intimate and inspiring setting.

Each year, the festival features an impressive lineup of songwriters—many of whom travel from Nashville, the heart of the songwriting world—to share their music and the stories behind it. The SML Songwriters Festival is dedicated to showcasing outstanding songwriting talent and celebrating the craft, creativity, and community that live music inspires.

Last year's festival highlighted 18 accomplished artists who are writing, recording, and making an impact across today’s music industry. Audiences enjoyed close-up performances in welcoming venues throughout the Smith Mountain Lake region, creating memorable moments of connection and conversation between artists and listeners.

Planning is underway for 2026, with the goal of expanding programming and increasing community involvement. Sponsorship opportunities are now available, and because the SML Songwriters Festival operates under Hook, Lines, and Singers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Smith Mountain Lake, all contributions are 100% tax-deductible. Proceeds from the festival directly support local charities in our community.
