SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE, Va. Get ready for an afternoon and evening of live music, friendly competition, and community fun as SML Good Neighbors presents its 6th Annual Battle of the Bands on Sunday, August 23, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mango’s Bar & Grill.
The event will feature eight local bands taking the stage throughout the day, competing for the title of Overall Winner and a $500 prize. A panel of judges will evaluate each performance using a variety of criteria, while event attendees will have the opportunity to determine the People’s Choice winner through donations to SML Good Neighbors.

- 2 p.m. – 501 Coyotes
- 3 p.m. – Vinyl Nation
- 4 p.m. – Dr. Phil’s Kimo Therapy
- 5 p.m. – The Dogmatics
- 6 p.m. – Raised by Sheep
- 7 p.m. – Standing Room Only
People’s Choice voting will take place throughout the event. Attendees can cast their “votes” by making a donation to SML Good Neighbors, with each donation counting toward their favorite band. Donations can be made online or in person during the event.
Now in its sixth year, Battle of the Bands has become an annual fundraiser for SML Good Neighbors, helping the organization raise critical funds while introducing more members of the community to its work.

About SML Good Neighbors
SML Good Neighbors is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in Moneta, Virginia. The organization, founded in 2007, provides academic, enrichment, and nutritional programs, free of cost, to local students and scholarships to high school seniors in Franklin and Bedford County, Virginia. They also provide leadership development internships to college students from around the globe. Their mission is to develop good neighbors’ skills and values in children through programs that nourish, educate, and support them while providing life-changing experiences for college students through leadership development internships.
