-About the Property-
This Queen-Anne Victorian home was built in 1895 for Benjamen Angle and his wife, Kate. Benjamen was the Sheriff of Rocky Mount, an accomplished business manager of the Angle Hardware Store, and Superintendent of Franklin County Schools. Kate Angle was a school teacher and acclaimed watercolor artist. Together the Angles raised seven children. The home has seen multiple evolutions from use as a single-family home, apartments, a boarding house, and now bed and breakfast over its 125 years of history. After a significant rear addition in the 1980s, the home now has eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms and about 5000 square feet of living space. It is locally known as Claiborne House because of its prominence atop the high point of Claiborne Avenue. It was renamed The Claiborne Bed and Breakfast in 2023.
